Companion to GEO Brand Audit · Rerun quarterly as AI data shifts

B2B buyers don't start research by searching for your brand. They start by asking AI models and AI search tools questions about their problem, before they know you exist, before they've typed a single competitor name. By the time they search for your brand, the consideration set is already formed. Three steps: define your buyer profile and generate the 15-20 questions to test, run those questions in Perplexity and ChatGPT to record where you appear, then analyze the gaps and get a prioritized content brief with specific piece titles and angles. The upstream companion to the GEO Brand Audit.

  1. Click "Copy prompt" above and paste it into Claude or ChatGPT to start the session.
  2. The AI asks about your buyer: their role, company stage, specific problem, and what they were doing before they found you. One or two sentences per question is enough.
  3. You'll receive 15–20 specific questions written exactly as your buyer would type them into Perplexity or ChatGPT, grouped by journey stage (Awareness / Consideration / Decision).
  4. Run those questions yourself in Perplexity and ChatGPT. Note which queries surface your brand and which surface competitors instead. The AI then analyzes your results.
  5. You'll receive a journey coverage map, competitor advantage analysis, and 5–8 specific content briefs — each with a title, target query, angle, and estimated word count.
  6. Rerun quarterly. AI training data shifts constantly; a gap that closes today may reopen, and a competitor may claim territory you haven't taken yet.
From a full journey map for a B2B video analytics platform (Lumen):

JOURNEY COVERAGE:
Awareness: 0/6 queries — Lumen invisible. AI gives generic onboarding advice; no tools mentioned.
Consideration: 1/8 queries — Vidyard dominates 7/8. Lumen appears only in "alternatives to Wistia."
Decision: 3/4 queries — Lumen appears well in direct brand searches.

MOST DANGEROUS GAP:
"Tools to track video engagement for customer onboarding" is the query where shortlists get made. Vidyard and Wistia appear; Lumen doesn't. By the time a buyer reaches Lumen demos, they've already been primed on two competitors.

CONTENT BRIEF #1 (highest priority):
Title: "How to Know if Your Onboarding Videos Are Actually Working (And What to Do When They're Not)"
Target query: "How do SaaS companies measure if onboarding videos are working?"
Angle: Lead with the specific failure mode (customers skip to minute 3, miss the key step, then submit a support ticket but you have no idea that's happening). Frame drop-off analytics as the missing diagnostic layer.
Word count: 1,200-1,500 words. Stage: Awareness to Consideration bridge.
