Onboarding Email Sequence

Most onboarding sequences are feature announcements sent to people who haven't used the product yet. They try to do five things per email and do none of them well. The result: low open rates, ignored CTAs, and churn before week two. This skill writes five emails where each has exactly one job. Email 1 confirms the signup and gives one next step. Email 2 shows the fastest path to the aha moment. Email 3 proves it with a specific customer result. Email 4 names and removes the most common blocker. Email 5 forks: active users get celebrated, inactive users get re-hooked with a last-chance frame that isn't desperate.

1. Click "Copy prompt" above and paste it into Claude or ChatGPT to start the session.
2. Provide: what your product does, the aha moment (the one thing retained users all do in week 1 that churned users never did), the most common blocker, one proof point, the sender name, and your preferred tone.
3. If you don't know your aha moment, start there. The skill will help you infer it from the product.
4. Review Email 2 closely — the aha moment framing is the highest-leverage email in the sequence.
5. Use Email 5B (inactive version) even if you have behavioral segmentation. It does more work than the active version.
